KS3 Reading Paper

Answer a mixture of long and short questions about three separate texts that you will have 15 minutes to read before you even see the questions! Once the first 15 minutes is over you will be allowed to look at the questions and then start answering the test.

There will be 4 different types of questions on your paper

  • Filling in tables or ticking boxes

  • Copying information from the texts

  • Answers about one text

  • Answers that compare two or three texts

  • The amount of space given for you to answer each question is shown by the amount of space you have.  Pay attention to this

  • You have one hour and there are 32 marks.  So for each mark you should spend no more than 2 minutes (for example 5 marks is 10 minutes)

  • Answer the question asked and in longer answers make sure your answer is clear and you use PEE.

  • Mention the word choices the writer has made- what do words mean to you? What do they show about how the writer is feeling?
