In this module you will be required to study a Shakespeare play in detail and then submit an essay of  around 2000 words. This year all groups will be studying Much Ado About Nothing

Your coursework essay will be marked according to the Assessment Objectives (AO) as follows:

A01: Write fluently and coherently, following a clear argument. (8%)

A02i : Understand the play they have read / watched and respond to it.  (10%)

A03: Comment on the writer’s use of language and structure and form,  how it shapes meaning and its effect on the reader. (7%)  

A04: Be able to give alternative interpretations of the play, and support them with evidence from the text. (5%)

It is expected at AS Level that students read more than the required text.  It is therefore advisable to read study guides on the text and some literary criticism.
