In this module you will be studying 'Wise Children' by Angela Carter and will sit a one hour examination in January.  This can be re-sat in the summer if you need/want to improve your grade.

This module is tested in a closed book exam which means you are not allowed to take a copy of the novel in to the exam room.  This means you will need to make sure you know some key quotations about characters, themes and events off by heart.  You should also be able to make reference to the rest of the text in plenty of detail.

Your response will be marked alongside these Assessment Objectives (which your English teacher will go through with you prior to the exam)

A01 : Write fluently and coherently, following a clear argument. (7%) 

A02i :  Understand the novel you have read and respond to it.  (10%)

A03 : Comment on the writer’s use of language and structure and form,  how it shapes meaning and its effect on the reader. (8%)

A04 :   Be able to give alternative interpretations of the novel, and support them with evidence from the text. (5%)
