These pages are designed to support students at The Cornwallis who are preparing to take their AS Level and A2 Level exams.
Students currently have five lessons of English at both AS and A2 Level. They spend time preparing to sit exams and write coursework in three key areas (or modules) each year.
AS Course Content- Module 1: A comprehensive study of 'Wise Children' by Angela Carter, this module is examined in January
- Module 2: A detailed study of one Shakespeare play is assessed in coursework form due in during the first part of the January term
- Module 3: Two texts are studied simultaneously with a focus on their social context, this module is examined in June.
A2 Course Content
- Module 4: Another two texts are studied simultaneously with a focus on different interpretations and their social context, this module in examined in January
- Module 5:A detailed study of two substantial war texts with a focus in how the texts relate to one another, this module is examined in April
- Module 6: A close study of unseen texts about the First World War is examined in June.
