A Week at War!
Your focus is writing to
imagine/entertain so this project requires you to imagine that you are at
war.
Week 1
Draw a detailed map of where you
have been sent to fight. Include your camp, enemy camp, enemy lines,
weapons, information about the soldiers.
OR
Draw a battle plan for your troops
with information about your attack. Include timings, weapons, soldiers,
vehicles and the reasons for your decisions.
Week 2
Write a letter home to your family
telling them of your experiences. You can either be honest or write in a
way that will make them worry less.
OR
Write a letter from your family
telling you what is happening back at home. You can include news about
friends, relatives, weddings, births, deaths, how people are coping etc…
Week 3
Write a diary entry that shows
your feelings about your first few days at war. You can illustrate it if
you’d like.
OR
One of your friends, a fellow
soldier, has been shot. Write your diary entry about him (name, age,
personality) and how you feel (upset, scared, angry).
Week 4
You have been asked to help the
army recruit more soldiers. Draw a poster with a catchy caption that will
persuade people to join the army.
OR
You have been put in charge of
some new recruits. Write a speech to motivate them before they go into
battle. Remember they will be scared, hungry, tired, cold and worried about
their families.
Week 5
Write a poem about your
experiences at war.
Week 6
Write a story about war. Make it
as imaginative and descriptive as possible.
Week 7
Write a review of your week at
war. This can be in a diary format, an extended piece of writing or even
presented as a story board.
Your project should be illustrated and made as interesting as possible. It
must be complete and ready to hand in on paper or as a computer file, on the
day that it is due.
