1. Imagine you are Winston Churchill. Write a letter to your wife,
explaining how the war is going and how you feel about being in charge of
the country at such a time.
2. Imagine you were an evacuee, being moved away from your family and home.
Write a diary that shows your feelings and experiences.
3. Imagine you are a woman who has to go to work for the first time because
of the war. Write about your first day in your new job, explaining what you
do and how it is different to your old life.
4. Imagine you have a ration book and can only buy certain foods in small
amounts. Draw a picture of your ration book and include the foods that you
could not be without, explaining why this is.
5. Draw a poster that warns people of the dangers of gas attacks and will
persuade them to carry gas masks at all times.
6. The government need to ensure people are following the blackout rules.
Write an information leaflet so the public know what they have to do and
why. Try to include diagrams.
7. Prepare a front page of a newspaper, the only way people got news about
the war. It should include a title, a headline, a story with subheadings,
pictures and an interview with a soldier.
