2.    Which country does it originate from?

3.    How many lines does a Haiku have?

4.    How many syllables should be in each line of a Haiku?

5.    What sort of things are Haikus often written about?

Week 3- Investigating Haiku (continued)

Using the internet find and look at examples of Haiku. Choose at least three that you particularly like and copy and paste them into your document. With each one write a short paragraph explaining what it is about and why you chose it. Do you like what it is about? Are there words or images that you find interesting? For each one also find a picture to illustrate or go with it, copy and paste next to your Haiku.

Week 4 – Your own Haiku

Choose one of the following titles:

          Thunder

          Ocean

          Fire

          Earth

          Winter

Write your own Haiku about your chosen title. Make sure it has the right number of syllables in each line- use a thesaurus to help you find the right words. Draft and re-draft your poem until you think it is the best it can be. Illustrate your Haiku.

Week 5 – Creative Writing

Turn your  Haiku into a descriptive piece of writing; try to keep the same quality of writing and use the descriptive techniques you have learnt before-  use third person, imagine you are standing still- observing, not involved in any action, paragraphs, sentence structure, adjectives, similes, metaphors, senses etc. To help you plan you writing use a chart like the one below.

Sight

Sound

Smell

Touch/texture
